An Eagle Scout was arrested in connection to a Halloween bonfire explosion which left a Peoria teenager severely injured. Samuel Wolf Schnee, 24, has been released on bond, according to police records.
Authorities believe Schnee threw a car part into the bonfire at an October 30th Halloween party in the desert which caused an explosion, leaving Jaidynn Penberthy, 16, severely injured.
Court records show Schnee was booked on three counts of aggravated assault and seven counts of endangerment. Schnee was later released after posting bond.
Schnee appeared in court early Saturday morning with attorney, Jared Schreck, who is representing Schnee. His attorney argued that the State of Arizona could not reasonably identify Schnee as the person who threw the item because it lacked identification. His attorney also argued there was no confirmation, at the time of the court appearance, which item caused the explosion and injuries.
The judge found probable cause and set a bond at $25,000, which court records show that Schnee later posted.
Family of the teenager have set up a GoFundMe to assist with Penberthy's medical expenses.
